3 best ways how to deal with pain

25 August 2025

In this article I want to introduce three different ways to treat pain in the body you can start using today.

Where the pains comes from

To know how to treat pain you first need to know what pain is. It starts with signals being send in your body. In the right place nerves fire because they get triggered. The cause may be damage, it may be too much pressure, in the end the cause doesn’t matter because what matters is the strength of the signal. It translates into the strength of the pain.

The signal travels via nerves and spinal cord to the brain then inside the brain the signal gets processed and intepreted. Only via the brain you can actually feel the pain. That’s why pain medicines are targeting the brain. If certain chemical processes can be inhibited in the brain then the pain get’s numbed or blocked or even forgotten.

The good thing in this is: you can do this yourself. You don’t necesserily need drugs for this.

3 Method to deal with pain

Here are three ways to treat pain on your own:

  1. Meditation
Deep breath , the slowing of thought can lead to a softening of pain. Basically any kind of meditation that doesn’t focus on the pain or area of the pain is helpful.
  2. Reframing
Putting new words with a new perspective an a condition can change the understanding of that condition. At first that might sound hollow it is everything but hollow when practiced right. In my own experience it can be invaluable to keep going until it gets better.
You choose on you own accord what kind of meaning you give the pain your in. It doesn’t changes the pain directly but give you purpose in how to deal with it. The applied meaning can be a small thing, as long as it fitts and directs you positively.
  3. Deliberite Training
Slow and gentle exercises can minimize the pain over time. This works since those activities block the pain signals from reaching the brain. Additional, regular exercise makes the body fitter and in combination with stretching lessens the pain in many areas.
The important part is to start very gentle and careful, stop when pain becomes too much and if possible reverse the exercise to circumvent the pain. An example would be rotating the arm to the point where it hurts, then to stop and rotate in the opposite direction, so that the rotation doesn’t hurt.

A few important points are that pain always wants to say something. If your body is in pain something is wrong and most liekly needs fixing, so doen’t ignore it just to keep going. Console a doctor and look for possible treatments of the cause. The tools given are for you to use to improve your wellbeing.

Conclusion

These three methods to ease pain can be your first steps out of it. There are many more points, too many for this short post therefore I am going to link a few ressources for your own information.
